The South-East Europe, Black Sea and Middle East region is growing in importance in terms of the port industry exemplified by the increased number of container throughputs at ports in the regional area. Figures and forecasts are indicating that this increase is going one way and that is up. There are no signs of slowing with ambitious port projects in the Middle East being announced, economic health in Russia acting as a stimulus for the growing container volumes in the Black Sea and Turkey transforming into a key maritime transfer hub. The ports in the region need to accelerate their growth to keep up with demand.
